South Dakota PBS Interviews Suffrage Historians

This week, South Dakota PBS TV just aired a video called “Simple Justice: Suffrage in South Dakota.” This was produced as part of South Dakota’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment.

I was interviewed for this video. Some of my interview on School Suffrage was cut in the 30 minute version, but more of it appears in this 38 minute version.

The story is an excellent overview of the South Dakota Woman Suffrage story – with interviews from many experts, especially those involved in the book, “Equality at the Ballot Box, Votes for Women on the Northern Great Plains. That’s the book where I wrote the chapter on School Suffrage.
